Janis Van Sant Studios

I have created artwork for most of my lifetime, focusing mainly in painting, drawing, and sculpture.  I come from a family of artists, designers, photographers, and craftsmen, and so inspiration and drive to create always came naturally to me.
I attended Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and recieved my BFA. While there I studied under some of the best artists in the region and learned to hone, and master my skills and interests in art, studying drawing, illustration, and fashion design, deciding to focus on painting.
I believe that art should be raw and unencumbered. I prefer to work large scale and with oil. I often work with paint in a painterly flow. I use varied techniques that I have learned that work best for any given piece I choose to create.
I am inspired by the works of many artists in my lifetime and by the works of more well known artists such as Helen Frankenthaler, Wassily Kandinsky, Mark Rohtko, and many others throughout history from many varied genres and times.
